2-AIMP, also known as 1-(7-Methoxy-benzo[1,3] dioxol-5-yl)-2-methylamino-propan-1-one, 2 methyl mda, has the molecular formula: C₁₂H₁₄NO₂. Its molecular weight is 292.300, and its stability is rated at two years.This compound (2-AIMP) has a BK-MDMA group which features a methoxide, all of which is attached to a standard phyenyl ring. It is supplied as large, white, dry crystals.BK-MDMA itself, also called Methylone, 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylcathinone, M1 and MDMC, functions both as an entactogen and a CNS stimulant.

Chemically, it works in much the same way while the amphetamines, phenethylamines, cathinones and methylenedioxyphenethylamines. It was produced in 1996, and investigated for its potential as an antidepressant. Methylone is structurally very similar to MDMA, being distinguished only by the addition of a β-ketone group. 2AIMP is believed to be very similar to 5-MAPB and 5-EAPB!
